Morinda는 총 131개의 품종을 가지고 있습니다.
우리는 노니라는 이름은 알고 있지만 실질적으로 노니라는 이름은 막연한 이름이
되어 있습니다. 실질적으로 우리가 말하는 노니는 Morinda를
일컬으며, 현지인들뿐만 아니라 논문을 보다보면 간혹 학자들도 노니의 품종을
모르고 막연하게 노니라고 하고 연구하는 경우도 볼 수 있었습니다.
131품종의 노니 중에서 식용이 가능한 노니와
약리성 높은 노니의 품종이 있습니다.
지금 드시고 계신 노니제품은 어떤 품종으로 만든 노니일까요?
인도네시아에서는 모린다 시트리폴리아를 부르는 이름과 다른 식용노니를 부르는 이름이 다릅니다.
대표적으로 Mengkudu멩쿠두는 모린다 시트리폴리아 품종을 일컬으며,
Pace 빠체라고 하는 이름은 다른 품종을 말합니다.
131개의 품종 중에 약리성 노니 품종은 학자마다 다릅니다.
그러나 정확한 데이터는 아니지만 식용노니품종은 30%내외 정도이며, 약용노니품종 또한 10%미만입니다.

모든 품종의 학명은 속명과 종명 그리고 명명자로 3가지를 써야하며, 주로 말할때는 속명과 종명만을 말하는 경우가 많습니다.
